Sunday Night at the TSO with Simon Rivard

RBC Resident Conductor and TSYO Conductor Simon Rivard prepares for the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Spring Concert on April 30.
April 21, 2022

A highlight of every TSO season are the two final performances by the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO). But this year's are especially exciting as they are the first for the TSYO in over 2 years!

First, its "side by side" performance with TSO musicians (each TSYO member shares a music stand with a TSO musician). This year the side by side performances are April 22, 23 and 24, as part of the Gimeno, Lisiecki & Tchaikovsky 5 program.

The other is its annual Spring Concert held this year on April 30, 2022. The Spring Concert is always exciting as the culmination of several months' hard work, but this year's concert is especially thrilling as it's the first on stage finale of their season after over two years of pandemic performance disruption.

Simon Rivard, RBC Resident Conductor and TSYO Conductor, tells us about the young musicians' passion and drive as they prepare for the upcoming TSYO concerts, on Sunday Night at the TSO with The New Classical FM. For more on the TSYO and its exemplary history and training opportunities, please see here:
