Ringing in the Year of the Dragon with the TSO

新年快乐! Happy Lunar New Year!
February 27, 2024

On February 13, your Toronto Symphony Orchestra rang in the Year of the Dragon with an explosive celebration of music and dance. This year’s Lunar New Year concert was unmatched in energy, featuring performances from violinist Timothy Chooi and pianist Eric Guo, and comedian Dashan (China’s most famous foreigner) as host, also reciting the poem “Song of the Pipa”. Naomi Woo led the concert from the podium with passion, marking her much-anticipated TSO début. The Soaring Eagles and Chinese Collective Arts Association displayed awe-inspiring performances of dragon dance, acrobatic lion dance, and traditional folk dances.

Thank you to the Bank of China for making this concert happen. And a huge thank you to Mayor Olivia Chow, who attended the evening’s festivities, and our market vendors Daango Cake Lab, Canaysia Gifts, Souperwell, Gotamago, Goji Studios, Oishii Sweets, House of Tytan, Love at First Blush, and Plumleaf Press.
