Relaxed Performance

Bhangra & Beyond

Sun, Apr 14, 2024 Roy Thomson Hall

Dance in your seats with your whole family at Bhangra & Beyond, a concert highlighting this beautiful Punjabi artform from India, and more!

Join us for a fun-filled morning with your Toronto Symphony Orchestra and special guests Maritime Bhangra and Sanskriti Arts as we embrace the power of music, rhythm, and dance. Create core memories as you introduce your children to a love of music and live performance. This concert is particularly great for ages 8–12.

Music moves us in many ways, emotionally and especially physically. Across the globe, there are musical traditions that fuse music and movement in distinct ways. Many people from the Indian sub-continent have made their home in the GTA. Bhangra & Beyond is a concert that celebrates all the unique ways those cultures have fused music and dance together. Join us as we see how composers, influenced by the music of Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, create new sounds and exciting pieces. In half of the music pieces, dancers from Maritime Bhangra and Sanskriti Arts will be dancing on stage while the orchestra plays, and by the end of the show, you'll be dancing in your seats!

To help audiences prepare for this Relaxed Performance, a Venue Guide and Concert Fact Sheet has been created and can be accessed at TSO.CA/Relaxed. This concert lasts approximately 55 minutes with no intermission.
