A Historic Moment–Turangalîla-Symphonie marks 1st TSO JUNO win under Gustavo Gimeno
Thanks to your support, the TSO’s centennial season was marked by an extraordinary milestone: a JUNO Award win for our recording of Messiaen’s Turangalîla-Symphonie—the first recording under Music Director Gustavo Gimeno.
Captured live at Roy Thomson Hall during a landmark concert in our 100th-anniversary season, this acclaimed release showcases the brilliance of your TSO musicians, joined by guest soloists Marc-André Hamelin and Nathalie Forget. Produced by Karel Bruggeman and released by Harmonia Mundi, the recording reflects a new chapter in the TSO’s artistic legacy—one made possible, in part, by the generosity of donors like you.
“Recording Turangalîla-Symphonie with the TSO was an incredible journey,” said Maestro Gimeno. “This piece—so full of tenderness, joy, and energy—takes you through the entire spectrum of the human experience.”
The award was announced at the 54th Annual JUNO Awards Gala on March 29 in Vancouver, BC, where our Beck Family CEO Mark Williams accepted it with heartfelt thanks to our musicians, staff, partners—and to supporters like you. “Music is alive and well in Canada,” he said, “and we are so grateful to be part of it.”
Your commitment and your belief in the power of live orchestral music are forever part of this achievement. Thank you for helping your TSO share our sound with the world.
