Which package is right for me?

Don’t be overwhelmed by the many concerts the Toronto Symphony Orchestra performs in a season. We’ve grouped the concerts into easy Series packages defined by the music style performed and organized by day of the week and time.

To help you, besides each concert date, we have noted the curated series the concert is included in and provided some information about the concert and program. If you need more help selecting the right series for you, contact one of our friendly Patron Service Representatives, and they will be pleased to assist.

Subscription Ordering Details

All orders are processed in sequence according to the date payment is received and must be accompanied by payment for processing.

For the best available seats, order as early as possible. Due to popularity, some series, concerts and/or sections may have limited seating.

How are seats assigned?

Orders are given priority based on the following criteria:

  • If you are a renewing subscriber
  • Date the paid order is received
  • Number of years as a TSO subscriber
  • Donations made to the TSO
  • Seats for any additional concerts are assigned after the subscription series based on the same criteria.

What if I need to cancel my subscription? Do I receive a refund?

Refunds of complete subscription series packages are accepted up to 48 hours before the first concert in your season order (including additional concerts).

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra deeply values the support of our subscribers—it is important to us that you have confidence and choice whenever you subscribe or book a ticket to our concerts.

Throughout the 2024/25 season, as a subscriber, you will have options to:

  • Return your package at least two days before your first performance and receive a full refund for your subscription.
  • Exchange tickets for a concert you can’t attend to another performance in the season without paying exchange fees
  • Donate any unused tickets to the TSO and receive a charitable tax receipt for their full value For full details on exchanges and returns, please visit TSO.CA/Exchanges or call Patron Services at 416.598.3375.

Can I give my ticket to a friend?

Patron account information is confidential; the account holder must make any updates or changes, including ticket exchanges and reprints. To authorize someone else to have access to updating orders in your account, please call Patron Services at 416.598.3375 or e-mail contactus@tso.ca.

During the renewal season:

  • If you would like one or more of your upcoming season seats or series to be renewed under someone else’s account instead of your own, you may complete and submit the Seat Transfer Request Form. This will allow the transferee to take ownership of the full subscription package, including all reprints, exchanges, and ticket turnbacks, and to renew the package under their name in future seasons.

The completed form should be returned to Patron Services via a method indicated on the form (in person or via fax, email, or mail). Seat transfers may only be performed before the seats have been renewed. No seat transfers will be performed without a completed Seat Transfer Request Form.

During the season:

  • If you cannot attend and wish to gift your TSO tickets to a loved one or friend, you may provide them with your tickets, which they can use to attend the performance.

You may also contact Patron Services, and a friendly representative would be pleased to resend your tickets as Print at Home tickets, so you may share or have your tickets reprinted and held under your guest's name for pick up from the box office on the day of the concert.

Concert Experience Questions

Are there any health and safety protocols for attending TSO concerts?

Current status: Masking is recommended. For detailed health and safety protocols, visit TSO.CA/Safety.

Can I bring my children?

For our Masterworks, Pops, and Special performances, we kindly request that all patrons maintain a level of attentiveness and behaviour that ensures a quiet and respectful environment for both performers and fellow attendees. We welcome younger listeners who can uphold these standards of behaviour.

TSO Young People’s Concerts have been thoughtfully crafted for audiences between 5 and 10. While children under 5 are welcome, we recommend a minimum age of 5. Children under 5 may attend with a purchased ticket at their parent or caretaker's discretion.

Our Relaxed Performances are designed to accommodate patrons who may need to move around, express themselves vocally, or leave the concert hall while enjoying the performance. These concerts may be a good fit for some young listeners.

Please be aware that all attendees, regardless of age, must possess a valid ticket for entry. Additionally, children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

If there is any disruption during the performance, our Roy Thomson Hall staff may kindly request parents or caretakers to accompany their children to the lobby, where they can continue to enjoy an audio feed of the performance.

To learn more, including information regarding Babes in Arms, please contact Patron Services by calling 416.598.3375, Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm.

How long is a typical TSO performance?

Performance length varies, but a typical TSO Masterworks performance runs approximately two hours with one intermission. You can find the runtime of each individual piece on the performance page before purchasing tickets.

When should I arrive?

We suggest that you arrive one hour to forty-five minutes before the scheduled start time. This will allow you time to find your seat, relax, and read the program notes.

Check your tickets carefully for concert times and venue information.

When coming to a concert, please remember that traffic, construction, parking, and weather can affect your arrival time, so leave early to ensure you’re not late. To help prepare you for your visit, visit the applicable venue information page: Roy Thomson Hall and George Weston Recital Hall.

Roy Thomson and George Weston Recital Hall will open its doors to patrons approximately one hour before the performance's start time, and the Box Office will be open until a half-hour after the performance's start time.

What if I arrive late?

We don't want you to miss a note! In the best interests of all patrons and performers and to minimize distractions, latecomers and those who leave the auditorium during a concert will be admitted only if there is a suitable break in the performance.

The TSO assumes no responsibility for portions of any concert missed due to lateness (including inclement weather, traffic delays, or TTC service) and cannot make any adjustment to the ticket price.

Please note that the late call could follow intermission for some performances due to programming.

What if I have lost or misplaced my tickets?

If you lose your subscription package or any individual tickets, simply contact the TSO Patron Services Office. Just call us to arrange for replacement tickets—free!

After 5:00pm on the day of the concert you are attending, you may visit the venue box office (Roy Thomson Hall or George Weston Hall) with your photo ID and the credit card used to purchase to receive a replacement ticket(s) on the spot.

What if there is a change to my concert?

Artists, programs, dates, and prices are subject to change without notice. When time allows, program changes will be announced before the performance.

The TSO will notify the ticket purchaser by email and, based on time, by voicemail broadcast.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code. Anything that makes you feel comfortable is fine. Most people wear business or slightly dressy casual clothes, but you'll see everything from khakis to cocktail dresses.

Is it permissible to wear perfume or cologne?

We share the air—go scent-free. We urge you to refrain from using scented personal products when attending Toronto Symphony Orchestra concerts. Please remember that our patrons’ and employees’ comfort and health can be compromised by scents in our environment that trigger the various symptoms associated with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities.

The condition known as Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) refers to the disabling symptoms that many people experience as a result of exposure to environmental substances. People with MCS can experience symptoms in response to fragrances that interfere with their daily lives due to exposure.

The Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra have taken the following steps to encourage and support a scent-free environment:

  • Reduced use of scented products in our facilities to the greatest extent possible
  • Created policies and messages to encourage our employees and patrons to make their individual contributions to a scent-free environment
  • Encourage our patrons and employees to identify any accommodation issues attending chemical sensitivities.
  • Pursued communications to enhance our employees’ and patrons’ awareness of the condition of MCS, with the objective of increasing their knowledge and commitment to contributing to a scent-free environment

When do I applaud?

Most artists appreciate applause at any time during a performance. Until the late Nineteenth Century and even into the Twentieth Century, it was customary for audiences to applaud at the end of every section of a given piece, and some movements were even given an immediate encore if the applause was great enough.

Modern audiences tend to wait until the end of an entire piece to clap. Why? Holding applause between movements is considered respectful of the performers’ concentration and mindful of musical continuity.

The conductor will signal when a piece is over by putting his or her arms down and turning to the audience.

Can I give my ticket to a friend?

Patron account information is confidential; the account holder must make any updates or changes, including ticket exchanges and reprints. To arrange for someone else to access your account, please call Patron Services at 416.598.3375 or e-mail contactus@tso.ca.

During the renewal season, if you would like one or more of your upcoming season seats or series to be renewed under someone else’s account instead of your own, you may complete and submit the Seat Transfer Request Form. This will allow the transferee to take ownership of the full subscription package, including all reprints, exchanges, and ticket turnbacks, and to renew the package under their own name in future seasons.

The completed form should be returned to Patron Services via a method indicated on the form (in person or via fax, email, or mail). Seat transfers may only be performed before the seats have been renewed. No seat transfers will be performed without a completed Seat Transfer Request Form.

Can I take photographs?

You are welcome to take pictures inside the auditorium before and after the concert and at intermission. Once the house lights begin to dim, please note that the performance has begun, and photography or any type of recording during the performance is prohibited.

As a courtesy to musicians, guest artists, and fellow concertgoers, please put your phone away during the performance. Flash photography is forbidden at all times. The use of cameras, smartphones, or other recording devices for commercial reproduction or sale is strictly forbidden without the prior written consent of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

What about cellular phones?

Mobile phones, smartphones, and other electronic devices are extremely disruptive. Please turn off your cell phones, pagers, and all other electronic devices before the concert begins. Take a break from the outside world.

What else do I need to know?

Remember concert etiquette for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of the people around you. Talking, humming, tapping to the music, turning pages, or unwrapping cough drops may disturb the performers and other audience members.
