Chas Elliott

Double Bass

Chas Elliott joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 1988. Prior to that, he was Principal Bass of the Canadian Opera Company, National Ballet of Canada, Mainly Mozart Festival, and Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. His bass teachers were Thomas Monohan, Franco Petracchi, Warren Benfield, and Eugene Levinson.

Very active in the Toronto recording scene, Chas has played on many feature films, television series, and specials, including Agnes of God, Moonstruck, Crash, Road to Avonlea, Robocop, and The Arrow, to name only a few. He has also played on the recordings of many artists, such as The Scorpions, Hagood Hardy, Holly Cole, The Rankin Family, Classical Kids, Moe Koffman, Rob McConnell, Louis Quilico, and Glenn Gould’s Wagner: Siegfried Idyll.

Enjoying life, getting around to that pile of books, hearing his favourite musicians live wherever they may be, and perfecting the classic French omelette are all a top priority.
