Lance Chung is the Editor-in-Chief at GLORY Media. Raised in the small town of Banff, Alberta, Lance cut his teeth in the industry after moving to Toronto in 2012, accumulating over a decade of experience as a media professional. Throughout his career, he has underscored the importance of diverse editorial coverage and meaningful media representation.

Lance has worked with some of today’s most influential cultural figures, including Serena Williams, Simu Liu, Masai Ujiri, Nobu Matsuhisa, Takashi Murakami, and Robert De Niro, among many others.

Noteworthy: How do personal experience and tradition shape what Lunar New Year means to you?

Lance Chung: As someone who did not grow up celebrating the LNY tradition, specifically, what this time of the year means to me is opportunity: An opportunity to reflect on tradition and family, an opportunity to remind ourselves of our collective impact and shared histories, an opportunity to come together, acknowledge one another, and celebrate.

NW: How does Lunar New Year bring communities together, and what role do you see the TSO playing in that shared experience?

LC: The TSO plays an important role, not just as a conduit of artistry, but as a bridge-builder of community and culture. From its Relaxed Concerts to its Lunar New Year Celebration, the TSO is a reflection of the city we live in and the values we must continually remind ourselves to uphold. Supporting an institution and leader like the TSO is a non-negotiable.

NW: Is there a tradition you’re excited to pass on or share with others this year?

LC: Less of a tradition, I am just inspired to continue supporting my community via opportunities that will give us more visibility, support, and connection.
