Partnership with the YMCA of Greater Toronto
The TSO is proud to partner with the YMCA to enrich the lives of Torontonians throughout our region. Over the course of the 2020/21 season, TSO artists and musicians are regularly featured within the YMCA programming schedule across Toronto. Through a regular mix of workshops and events for children, youth, and seniors, along with virtual chamber music concerts for the communities served by local YMCA branches, the YMCA and TSO are working together to deepen our impact and contribute to a healthy Toronto.

Last fall, TSO artists began contributing to the YMCA’s The Bright Spot online community for older adults, providing engaging virtual musical experiences for seniors who may not be able to leave their homes.
This winter, the TSO works with the YMCA to celebrate Black Canadian accomplishments of the past, present, and future. Barrett Principal Education Conductor & Community Ambassador Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser joins the online event “Black Joy: A Celebration” on February 26, with a lens on arts and culture in Black communities across the GTA and featuring the TSO performing works by Black composers Jessie Montgomery and Valerie Coleman.
