Simon Rivard answers burning Messiah 2021 questions

December 13, 2021

Simon Rivard, RBC Resident Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO) since 2018, takes the podium for the time-honoured tradition, Messiah.

“I think what people love about Messiah is it is so intense emotionally,” Rivard said. “It’s filled with contrasts, it’s filled with power, and also humor so there is a little bit for everyone.”

Rivard discusses how he has adjusted Messiah for the needs of 2021 while maintaining the iconic scenes we wait for all year, which TSO musicians will be playing with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMC).

Messiah runs from Dec. 15-19. Last minute tickets are still available!
