It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 2022/23 Centennial Celebrations! It is doubly gratifying that in 2022/23 we are not only celebrating our 100th anniversary, but also our first complete season of concerts in over two years.

I am sure that we all now have a greater appreciation for the power of live music and the collective experience we share in the concert hall. Much of the 2022/23 season was designed to reflect and deepen this sense of connection between performer and listener.

Announcing a new season is a joy for me. Each successive year builds on past achievements and holds promise for an even greater future. I relish exploring this dynamic, constantly developing art form with you. We live in a time in which rich and diverse music from around the world is at our fingertips. The ability to showcase the invaluable gifts from generations of past composers—alongside the extraordinarily vibrant music of today—is very compelling.

We share this incredible centennial milestone with all of you. Together, we celebrate the artistic vision and dedication of our predecessors who made the Orchestra such a vital part of our community’s cultural landscape. I am thrilled to join you on the journey from the TSO’s first 100 years into the next 100.
