A Spanish landscape against a cloudy blue sky

Visions of Spain

Gimeno Conducts Boléro, Rodrigo & More
Wed, Mar 29–Sun, Apr 2, 2023 Roy Thomson Hall

Music Director Gustavo Gimeno conducts one of classical music’s all-time “greatest hits”, Ravel’s Boléro, which thrills as it slowly rises from a tiny flicker to an all-out, full-orchestra blaze. A program imbued with the sounds of Spain features one of the greatest Spanish flamenco guitarists in the world, Juan Manuel Cañizares, in Rodrigo’s iconic and audience-pleasing Concierto de Aranjuez. These performances also include one of today’s most strikingly individual voices, Francisco Coll, and the talented musicians of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra—who join the TSO to perform the music of Manuel de Falla.
