Classics

Scheherazade

Thu, Mar 4–Sun, Mar 7, 2027 Roy Thomson Hall

Dynamic conductor-pianist Maxim Emelyanychev leads from both podium and keyboard, beginning with the vibrant chaos of Jay Capperauld’s The Origin of Colour and Mozart’s stormy Piano Concerto No. 20. The program culminates in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, a symphonic suite inspired by the epic tale One Thousand and One Nights, its beguiling violin “storyteller” unfurling tales of danger and desire.

Please note: Beginning in the 2026/27 season, Masterworks will be known as Classics.
