A Note from Gustavo Gimeno
Es un placer. I am incredibly pleased to welcome you to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 2023/24 season—our 101st year, and, in many ways, the first year of a bold new future for our Orchestra.
This past season, we were reacquainted with the power of live music, returning to the concert hall for our fi rst full season in more than two years. This 2023/24 season, we harness that power again, bringing you programs brimming with the most beloved music in the repertoire, and new works by living composers, which are sure to be the celebrated compositions of tomorrow. In fact, every Masterworks performance in the 2023/24 season will include a work that has not yet been performed by your Toronto Symphony Orchestra—along with new surprises and delights across our Pops Series, Young People’s Concerts, and Specials—honouring our commitment to uncovering gems that we have not yet explored together.
The musicians and I are excited to share this beautiful music with all of you. You, our subscribers, donors, and supporters, are the lifeblood that inspires us at every performance. I am thrilled that my contract with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra has been extended for another five years, allowing me the privilege to lead this wonderfully refined ensemble through at least the 2029/30 season. The special bond that the musicians and I share, and the incredible audiences here in Toronto, have only deepened my love for this great city. I cannot wait to begin this year together, in person, with all of you.
