TSO at the Drive-In: Kings of Ragtime
Tickets may be purchased through Ticketmaster or in-person at the CityView Drive-In Box Office, located at 20 Polson St., starting at 5:30pm on October 7.
One of the building-blocks of jazz, ragtime exploded in popularity at the turn of the 20th century in America and around the world. The undisputed King of Ragtime was composer Scott Joplin, whose syncopated standards—including the ever-popular “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer”—provide the steady beat to this toe-tapping (preferably away from the gas pedal) program, which also features lively works by Jelly Roll Morton, George Gershwin, and others.
This concert is 60–75 minutes in length and will feature approximately 25 musicians from the Orchestra.
