At the centre of this riveting program is the Little Mass for children’s chorus and orchestra by Scotland’s James MacMillan, “full of sepulchral trombones, explosive crescendos and heavy-duty use of a thunder-sheet,” as one reviewer has described it. Also featured is German composer Wolfgang Rihm’s Duo Concerto, written expressly for accomplished soloists Mira Wang and Jan Vogler. (Pictured: Jan Vogler, cello)
