Britten War Requiem
The TSO commemorates the passing of a century since the conclusion of the First World War by paying tribute to all those who have given their lives in defence of freedom. Bramwell Tovey directs a cast of acclaimed soloists, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and the Toronto Children’s Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s soul-searching masterpiece, the War Requiem. Combining the traditional Latin Requiem text with poignant verses by the British First World War poet Wilfred Owen, and ingeniously scored for forces both massed and intimate, it will move you profoundly.
