Afghanistan: Requiem for a Generation

To commemorate Remembrance Day, the TSO presents Afghanistan: Requiem for a Generation, a soul-searching work by Canadian composer Jeffrey Ryan and Suzanne Steele, Canada’s war poet in Afghanistan. The concert, directed by Canadian conductor Tania Miller, includes readings from famous war-related poems, and a warm-hearted selection by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, featuring TSO Concertmaster Jonathan Crow. Concert running time is approximately two hours including a 20-minute intermission. Performance contains some graphic language.

Important transit information:

  • Due to fare gate construction, St. Andrew Station will be closed from 10pm on Nov 10 until 6am on Nov 13.
  • During this weekend closure, subway trains will not stop at the station. Patrons may exit the subway system at Osgoode or Union Stations.
  • In addition, there will be no subway service between St. Clair and Lawrence Stations on Nov 11 and 12. Shuttle buses will operate between these stations during the closure.
  • Saturday's performance will begin promptly at 8pm. Latecomers will not be admitted until after intermission. Please allow extra time to reach Roy Thomson Hall if travelling by subway.
