How the Gimquat Found Her Song
How the Gimquat Found Her Song
is a new Teacher Resource Package, suitable for students in
kindergarten to grade 5. This enduring children’s classic, featuring
Peter Oundjian and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, tells the story of a
rare and silent bird who lives in hiding until she meets a magician who
takes her on a musical journey through the history of western music in
search of the perfect song.
The Resource Package consists of a DVD of the symphonic performance
of Gimquat by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a Study Guide intended to
assist teachers in delivering the new 2009 provincial music curriculum,
a set of flashcards featuring all the instruments of the orchestra, and
a compact disc of accompanying musical excerpts. These materials were
developed by the TSO in partnership with Platypus Theatre, Oz Media and
Connexionarts.
