Donor Profile

Dr. Michael Braudo

Upon his passing in April 2008, Dr. Michael Braudo left a generous bequest to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to establish the Dr. Michael Braudo Principal Horn Chair.

Dr. Braudo had his own paediatric practice in Toronto that welcomed patients for 45 years.  He was a valued member of the staff at the Hospital for Sick Children and was the Emeritus Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto.

Originally from Johannesburg, Dr. Braudo came from a home where music was not an important part of everyday life.  It was when he went off to university that he discovered the joys of orchestral music.  When he settled in Toronto in the late 1960s, he became a regular patron of the TSO.

Dr. Braudo loved attending TSO concerts.  He thought the TSO provided a wonderful range of entertainment and the concert hall was a place where he could relax and enjoy wonderful music.  He niece, Patricia Braudo, remembers that he would often invite family members to join him at TSO concerts especially after he had particularly enjoyed a performance.

Those who knew him referred to Dr. Braudo as a kind and generous man.  He established friendships with his patients and would see them outside of the office at weddings and anniversaries.

Because of the generosity of Dr. Braudo and his family, the magic of live orchestral music with continue into the future.
