2011.2012 Season
Russian Romantics
Nathan Brock,
conductor
Flashing colours, folk-like dance rhythms, and gutsy emotions run throughout this hearty programme of Russian gems. The lineup includes the vibrant Polovtsian Dances by Borodin; Capriccio espagnol, Rimsky-Korsakov's snapshot of Spain; and selections from Mussorgsky's diverting portrait gallery, Pictures at an Exhibition. Guest cellist Joshua Roman performs Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, a deliciously romantic homage to Mozart.
Light Classics Concerts feature musical favourites that you’re sure to
recognize, and include engaging introductions from the stage.
