Holst's immensely popular suite portrays seven planets from our solar system through a stunning array of colours. The mood stretches from the relentless brutality of Mars, the Bringer of War, to the blissful serenity of Venus, the Bringer of Peace, and the earthy dance rhythms of Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. Joaquin Valdepeñas, the TSO's brilliant Principal Clarinet, performs the spectacular concerto by the Oscar-and Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer, John Corigliano.
