This spectacular launch of the Slavic Celebration has it all: Tchaikovsky’s thunderous march based on Serbian folk tunes, the wit of a satirical Prokofiev film score, and the barbaric splendour of Janáček’s unconventional Mass setting, sung in a medieval Slavic language. Teng Li, the TSO’s Principal Viola, also performs a stunning work by contemporary Czech composer Krystof Maratka.
