
Violist Mary Carol Nugent was born in St. John’s Newfoundland. After completing one year at Memorial University’s Department of Music, she attended the University of Toronto where she studied with Rivka Golani. Her studies also include summers at the Banff Centre with such renowned teachers as William Primrose, Lillian Fuchs, Donald McInnis, Karen Tuttle and Ralph Aldrich. Upon graduating from U of T, Ms. Nugent played with numerous ensembles including the Amadeus Ensemble, The Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and The Esprit Orchestra. She has been a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 1988, and continues to perform regularly as a chamber musician and studio recording artist. She makes her home in Toronto with her husband and their two young daughters.
