Kent Teeple,
Viola
Kent Teeple studied with Stephen Kondacs at McGill University in Montreal and Rivka Glolani at the University of Toronto. He went on to chamber music studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts with the Hungarian String Quartet.
Kent has been Principal Violist with the Canadian Opera Company (COC), the National Ballet Orchestra and the Mainly Mozart Orchestra. Kent's teaching credits include the University of Toronto, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. Currently Mr. Teeple works as mentor/performer with the National Academy Orchestra, which trains young professional musicians from across Canada.
While Principal Violist of the National Ballet Orchestra, Kent took part in the historic Rudolf Nureyev Tours, and premiered the ballet Four Schumann Pieces. Commissioned by Nuryev, this ballet premiered in Toronto and was performed in New York at the Metropolitan Opera.
In 1977 Mr. Teeple joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He has been heard in numerous chamber concerts both at the Symphony and with the string quintet Accordes. Today he plays with the Halcyon String Quartet with fellow TSO members Paul Meyer, Wendy Rose and Marie Gelinas. Kent currently plays principal viola with the Northern Lights Music Festival in Ajijic, Mexico and is frequently heard in orchestral and chamber music events at Westben Concerts at the Barn in Campbellford Ontario.
An active studio musician, Kent has recorded for Boyd Neal, Placido Domingo, Liza Minelli, Anne Murray, Loreena McKennitt, Hagood Hardy, Robert Aitkin's New Music, and the cast recording of Napoleon. He also recorded music for the T.V. series, "Street Legal", "Robocop", and "The Road to Avonlea".
