Bridget Hunt,
violin
Bridget Hunt was born in Edmonton. She spent her school years living in Saskatoon and commuting to Calgary for lessons with Dr. Lise Elson. After a year of living in Australia with her family, Bridget went to Indiana University to complete her Bachelor’s degree under Miriam Fried. She then continued her education in New York at Manhattan School of Music, where she completed her Master’s degree with Sylvia Rosenberg. Bridget’s other teachers include Ani Kavafian, Lorands Fenyves, and Paul Biss.
Bridget has been a prize winner in the CIBC Nationals, the Canadian Music Competition and was the grand prize winner of the Eckhardt-Gramatte Competition. This enabled Bridget to perform in a cross-Canada recital tour before beginning her career in the Toronto Symphony in the fall of 1994.
Bridget is an active chamber musician around Toronto and has participated in many chamber series such as Evening Overtures, 5 Small Concerts, New Music Concerts, and chamberWORKS among others. Bridget is married to Gemini-award-winning composer, Robert Carli. They are the proud parents of two children, Jane, 7 and Thomas, 5. In her spare time (not much at this point in her parental life!) Bridget enjoys exercising (and eating), reading and working in the garden with the kids.
