Angelique Toews, Violin
Angelique Toews, was born in Manitoba and began her violin studies with her mother, Lillian Toews. She went on to study with Arthur Polson and in 1987 won the gold medal from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto for her ARCT diploma. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia, where her teacher was Geoffrey Michaels, and completed her Master's degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. While at Stony Brook, Angelique studied with Joyce Robbins and was the recipient of a Graduate Fellowship and Teaching Assistantship.

Angelique is an avid chamber musician and has been featured in concert series throughout Canada and the US. Some of these include the Seattle New Music Festival, Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, Vancouver New Music, Friends of Chamber Music (Vancouver), Bryn Mawr Faculty Series (Philadelphia), Columbia University New Music Series (New York), Prairie Performances (Winnipeg), Chamber Music on the Red (Winnipeg), Five Small Concerts (Toronto) and the Toronto Symphony Evening Overtures. Her interest in contemporary music has resulted in numerous premieres including two by Canadian Composer Michael Oesterle, a violin concerto by Taiwanese composer Tyzen Hsiao as well as the North American Premiere of Sophia Gubaidulina's chamber work 'Ode to T.S.Elliot.'

Along with her chamber music endeavours, Angelique has been a member of the National Ballet of Canada, the Vancouver Symphony, and she has been a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 1996.
