Adele Armin, Violin
Ms. Armin began her studies at the age of four years. She and her three brothers were presented with string quartet music well before their first decade had passed. Before the age of sixteen when she received a scholarship to study at Indiana University, she had already made two cross - Canada concert tours and had appeared frequently on radio and television as soloist and chamber musician. Following Indiana, Ms. Armin completed her studies with. Professor Lorand Fenyves at the University of Toronto. A first prize winner of several national and international competitions, she began a busy solo career. She performed with Arthur Fiedler, Karl Ancerl, Mario Bernardi, Frarrz-Paul Decker, Glenn Gould, and others. Her great love of chamber music prevailed, however, and so she and several musical peers formed "Camerata"; a chamber music group which flourished for eleven years. Among their successes was the "Recording of the Year" of CBC for Schoenberg's 'Kammerkoncert" Op.9 and Berg"s Chamber Concerto Adagio, arranged by himself for violin, clarinet and piano. Her 1992 performances of Schnitke's "Concerto Grosso" with the Stuttgart:Chamber Orchestra generated enthusiastic response, from the public and press.

In the 1980's, Ms. Armin had a key role in the development of the RAAD electro-acoustic string instruments and has commissioned many new works, for which they are ideally suited. She has performed on her Raad for many new music organizations, including the Esprit Orchestra, playing Sergio Barosso's "Jitanjafora". The CBC taping of that performance was entered in the l995 lnternational Composers'Forum in Paris, where it received a winning award. It has subsequently been broadcast in 23 countries. She Is also soloist on the "Classical Kids" recording of Vivaldi, which won a Juno Award.

Ms. Armin was a member of the avant-garde jazz ensemble, "Hemispheres", and has performed and recorded with contemporary groups such as "Array", New Music Concerts and Sound Pressure, as well as traditional ones; like The Toronto Chamber Players. She is violinist of the "Trio Vivante"; a well known and much recorded piano trio featuring pianist Catherine Wilson and cellist Sharon Prader. In l997, she became a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where she serves in both the first and second violin sections.
